Now I know the big thing right now is the Chris Simon incident, and I'm going to address that soon. But I'm going to take the unconventional way, as that's how I've been doing things lately, and talk about an underlying story that I found interesting in Bridgeport on Sunday night.
Now, as was reported today by the NY Islanders at 6pm (but exclusively brought to you here 24 hours before), Blake Comeau was recalled by the big club following the Sound Tigers 4-3 win against Albany.
Now one may wonder, "Why Comeau? Why not Tambellini?" Good question, since Tambellini had notched a pretty special hat trick, in which Jeff scored a PP goal, SH goal and an even strength goal (and Comeau notched his own hat trick...of penalties.) Both Mike Fornabaio and I, along with the other media were interested in talking to Tambo after the game (if I scored three goals, I'd expect to talk to the media). We first talked to Frans Neilsen, followed by the other goal scorer of the day, Darryl Bootland. So we set ourselves by the locker room exit and kept our eyes peeled. It's 25 minutes after the final buzzer and we noticed Jeff getting out of the shower. Ok...he'll come by soon; I can feel it. We then found out about Comeau getting called up. Now he's getting dressed as he chats it up with his teammates. Alright, any minute now he'll come by. It's now 7:25pm, and I think to myself, "This game ended 55 minutes ago, and now there's no one left." I think we've been fooled. Did Tambellini really leave? There's no way...we were guarding the door. We HAD to have seen him leave. I felt bad for Mike. How do you report that the guy who scored a hat trick practically declined comment.
Now this gets me thinking. Is there an underlying sense of frustration by the talented Sound Tiger/Islanders forward? Jeff has had two chances with the big club and hasn't produced up to his potential. Now he scores a hat trick in his second game back in the minors and Comeau gets the call for the new roster spot caused by Simon's leave on the 4th line. Then he sneaks out on the media following his big game. Granted Ted Nolan has stated before that Jeff plays on the top-3 lines or doesn't play at all, but is there something up with this? Let me know what you all think, because I'd love to hear your suggestions. Shoot me a comment or drop me an email at TLiodice@gmail.com.
I'll be back with more tomorrow concerning Chris Simon.

First, congrats on the Comeau scoop from Sunday. Definitely cool to be able to break news like that! As for Tamby, keep an eye on that situation. Since you're our "eyes and ears" in Bridgeport, it'll be interesting to see what you can find out. I'm sure he's got to be frustrated, but just how much is the question.
