The Hockey Show on XM Radio was just asked a few minutes ago on who was the biggest winner of the draft was.
The answer?
New York Islanders.
Infact, most of the attending media had nothing but rave reviews for the Islanders scouting. One person said when talking about how the fanbase is blasting the pick of Bailey over Filatov, "there's nothing to worry about...smartest player in the draft and probably the best vision."
Fans, I know you didn't get what you wanted, but there's really nothing to worry about. As I said on ITV last night, this could be a very good draft, and a lot of fans won't even know it because of the first round selection.
Thirteen quality picks are nothing to cry over.

Tom, as much as I appreciate that sentiment. Especially from people who usually beat the team down regularly. I, like most people, believe rounds 2-6 were very good for us and that 13 picks plus one next year is nothing to sneeze at. You have to admit that this fanbase deserves to have a swing for the fences pick in the top five rather than the safe pick more than once a decade if they want to get better.
Shocking Tom. I am shocked your trying to put a positive spin on that debacle. No 13 quality picks is nothign to whine about your right... but when you have a player in your hands who by ALL accounts is the best offensive player in the draft left and you let him go its no wonder people are pissed. What happened to taking the best player at thier pick? No.. they got the 15th best player left. Simply a mess... maybe FilAtov will be the next Samsonov. But maybe hes the next Kovalchuck and if that is true Snow just Milburied himself. Read my column if you want the fans perspective from last night.
Take Care bro hope you had a good time in Ottawa
