Live Blog: Game 2 - Penguins Win 5-4 - OT (Pens lead series 2-0)

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have taken Game 2 over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers with a 5-4 win in overtime.

Chris Minard was in the right place at the right time, catching a rebound off the end boards and putting it by Nathan Lawson. The Sound Tigers could've had things wrapped up in the third with a 4-2, but two unanswered goals by the Penguins in the third period sent it to the extra frame.

The Sound Tigers look to cut the series deficit in half as both teams will meet up tomorrow in Game 3 in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Game time is 5:00pm.

First Period
It's Hennigar and Jeffrey to take the opening faceoff...

Jeffrey wins the faceoff and we're underway. Giveaway in the ntral zone and the Tigers will advance. Smith gives up the puck in the Pens zone...Bissonnette leads a two-on-one with Jeffrey passes it over and a deflection lifts it over Lawson.

PENGUINS GOAL, 1-0: Dustin Jeffrey, 2 (Bissonnette, Wallace), :30

Okposo can't handle the puck in the Pens zone off the faceoff and already we got an offisde.

Sound Tigers will take it into the PEns zone. Sim's line out there now. Haskins works it in thte corner and gets roughed up. This is the grind line.

Bentivoglio in front to Sim and he can't get it past Curry.

Pens will clear and work it deep, but the Sound Tigers reverse and we got the fourth line out.

Back to the other end, we got a delayed penalty on Bridgeport. Curry has to hold up as the puck goes back to the Pens zone. Marcinko will touch and we got the call.

BRIDGEPORT PENALTY: Andrew MacDonald (Hooking), 2:24

Bridgeport clears off the faceoff, Pens try to bring it back and the Tigers hold the fort at the blue line.

Another chance as Pens bring it behind the net. Then out to the blue line. Lawson overskates the pass and that was a near chance for the Pens.

Tigers clear and the Pens attack again. Wrap around the boards from Bridgeport send the Pens back 200 feet.

30 seconds left in the penalty. Another clearing attempt for Bridgeport, as the Pens have not established a good powerplay yet.

MacDonald leaves the box and the Tigers have killed it off. Wallace with the puck, draws two men, but gives it up to Okposo.

Play back into the BPort zone as Hillen dumps. Walter lifts a centering pass over the net.

Pens will dump as they change lines. Walter breaks up an icing attempt, but the Pens take control and will set up. Pass broken up, Bentivoglio shot on Curry kicked out.

Play goes to the other side of the ice, and Lawson will hold on.

Faceoff won by the Tigers, Pens get it back and will press. Giveaway and the Tigers advance deep into the WBS zone.

Tigers dump and Pens will start over behind their net. Breakout pass broken up by Bridgeport and Pens will start again. Fourth line out there for Bridgeport. Sound Tigers ice the puck and we'll start deep in the Bridgeport zone.

Haley with a big hit in the Pens zone. MacDdonald shot on off Curry, but Micheal Haley is right there and the rebound deflects off of him.

BRIDGEPORT GOAL, 1-1: Micheal Haley, 1 (Pascal Morency, Andrew MacDonald), 9:27

Pens take it from behind the net, but Okposo steals, gives it to Joensuu who misses the net. Joensuui gets it again, draws Curry down but he gets the blocker on it.

But apparently we got a Bridgeport penalty on Okposo.

BRIDGEPORT PENALTY: Kyle Okposo (Hooking), 10:12

Faceoff in the Bridgeport zone won by the Tigers. They'll clear and Pens will start over. Another clear by the Tigers and the Pens will go 200 ft.

Pens set up, Minard shot on Lawson turned aside and thrown to the corner. Tigers get it out as Marcinko will hold it, but he'll get knocked down for his trouble. Hand pass now and the play gets called.

Tigers win the faceoff, clearing attempt goes off the linesman but all the way down the ice. D'Avcersa leads the charge for the Pens.

Puck worked against the boards and to the blue line. Scrum in front of the net, and the Pens lift it over Lawson with the goalie sprawled.

Tigers dump, Walter centers it to Okposo who corners it past Curry.

BRIDGEPORT GOAL, 2-2: Kyle Okposo, 1 (Ben Walter, Jesse Joensuu), 12:13

Pens bring it back deep in the Bridgeport zone, then work it out to the blue line. Puck in the air and MacDonald gets mauled by a Pens forward and he'll go.

PENGUINS PENALTY: Jeff Taffe (Holding), 12:53

Tigers work it along the boards. Smith to Iggulden to Lee, but they give it up and the Pens clear.

Sound Tigers advance gets held off at the blue line and they'll start over. 509 seconds left in the penalty.

Hillen at the blue line, pass to the corner goes untouched and they'll work it again.

Okposo gets picked and another clear. Penalty over. Okposo to Joensuu, who cant find Hillen on the cross ice pass.

Pens dump, but Bridgeport takes it again. Wotton throws it to the corner and Haley runs over Vitale.

Wotton throws it in front and no one gets it and the Pens will adavance. Centering pass broken up and the Tigers clear to change up lines.

Pens will do the same.

3:13 left in the first period as a clearing attempt eludes Iggulden and we got an icing.

Faceoff deep in the zone won by the Pens. Centering attempt picked off by Smith. Into the offenseive zone go the Tigers. Iggulden throws it in front that Curry gobbles up.

We got some shoving in the crease area after the whistle. sure to be penalties.

PENGUINS PENALTY: Chris Minard (Roughing), 17:17

Tigers to go on a powerplay after the TV timeout.

Pens win the faceoff but can't dump. Centering pass by Sim goes to Iggulden and he deflects it over curry's shoulder.

BRIDGEPORT GOAL: Mike Igggulden, 1 (Jon Sim), 17:25 - PP

Pens try to clear, knocked down by a Bridgeport glove and we got a hand pass. More shoving after the whistle as both teams are testy now.

Scoring says its Haley with the assist, but we'll go with Sim. I dont see why Haley would be on the powerplay.

Tigers take it out of their corner, and Bentivoglio gets a shot on Curry. Tigers work it in the corner and we got a minute left.

Walter around to Joensuu. Okposo gets crunched on the boards, but he comes away with the puck. Pens will take it back and clear to change.

Tigers will do the same and Smith crushes Lovejoy. Pens ice the puck with 11.7 seconds left.

One last rush as Iggulden gets a shot on Curry and the buzzer sounds.

END FIRST PERIOD: SOUND TIGERS LEAD 3-2

Second Period Recap
Hennigar and Jeffrey to take the opening faceoff...

Jeffrey takes it back and the Pens clear. MacDonald to SMith to Iggulden who fires it over the net. Now we got an injured Tiger on the ice. It's Iggulden.

The trainers will come out to look at him.

He's up, but is being helped off the ice.

Walter leads a 2-on-1 with Joensuu, but Curry gobbles the puck up.

Hillen to Callahan who one-times it. Curry's got it with the glove and we'll have another faceoff.

Pens clear after the faceoff and Hillen takes over. Over to Callahan who dumps and the Pens take over. Back behind the Tigers net is Letestu. Johnson cetnering pass to Letestu, whose shot gets deflected and goes over the net.

As teams are changing words were said and minor shoves occured. Nothing major.

Marcinko wins the faceoff but Wotton cant hold on. Bissonnette woks it to Vitale who gets a shot on. Morency goes the other way and takes it into the Pens corner. He'll tussle with Vitale and Kohn centers it to Haley who shoots it wide.

MacDonald back to Joensuu whose shot is blocked. Kohn gets a shot that looked like it went off Curry's mask. Okposo now to Walter whose centering pass creates traffic in fron and the puck is pushed aside.

Tigers still work it deep, but the Pens corrall the puckl and clear for an icing.

IT'll be a tired Pens line out there against a refreshed Hennigar line.

Haley takes over for Iggulden who hasn't returned. Puck goes into the crowd and we'll redo it with a faceoff in neutral zone territory.

Hennigar back to Hillen who dumps off the glass and that goes out of play.

Pens take control off the faceoff and Goligoski bring in the Bridgeport zone. He'll shoot it wide of Lawson. Taffe gets a shot on and the Tigers clear.

Hillen with a big hit as the Pens bring it in.

Hillen cuts off a Letestu pass, but a shot deflects and goes into the netting.

Haskins line..Bentivoglio wraps it around for Sim who hits the post. Puck gets knocked with a high stick and we'll take the faceoff outside the zone.

Wotton shot goes off Sim's leg, which throws everyone offside.

Pens will dump it as Henrich just missed a deflection into a wide open net. Wallace throws it across but no one is there. Lee will clear it out as both teams change lines.

PEns dump and Tigers will try to advance. Walter to Joensuu who drives and gets two chances that do not get by Curry. Pens go the other way led by Vitale. Cnetering pass cut off by Okposo and we go the other way.

Joensuu forgets the puck and the Pens ice it.

Fourth line out for Bbridgeport. Hillen cant catch a clearing attempt so the Pens start up again. Marcinko can't find Haley and it's back and forth with no clear direction established.

Sim behind the net to Bentivoglio. Back to the blue line for Lee who fires one on Curry. Puck goes off his pads and bounces in front of him, he'll grab it before anyone else and we got a whistle and a TV/Radio time out

Off the faceoff a Walter shot gets deflected into the crowd and we'll start over again.

Walter takes the faceoff, loses it and Pens will dump. Wotton catches up with the puck and Okposo will chase it and break an icing call.

Back into the neutral zone, Wotton dump cut off by Curry and Pens advance. Johnson throws one on net to Lawson, and Bridgeport covers. Shoving after the whistle. You know the deal...

Haley still takes Iggulden's place. Macdonald cant cealr, but Haley delivers a nice hit and is helmetless yet again.

MacDonald to Callahan whose shot is redirected. Pens will start over and clear.

We got a Bridgeport penalty here, but to the crowd's shagrin.

BRIDGEPORT PENALTY: Jack Hillen (Interference), 10:25

The Sound Tigers announced today's attendance is 5,903

Sound Tigers clear off the faceoff but MacDonald DRILLS Letestu into the boards. It looked from behind, but no call.

Sound Tigers clear again, and Pens will start over. Offsides call.

Pens dump but can't get control. They break a Sound Tigers clearing attempt and bwork it at the Blue line. Marcinko cuts off a pass and we start over again.

Jeffrey gets past Hennigar but not MacDonald and another clearing attempt.

Penalty over on Hillen and we're even strength.

Hennigar shot dflected into the crowd and we'll have a faceoff in the Pens zone

Callahan wroks it behind his own net and Hillen leads the charge. Centers it to Joensuu who deflects it past Curry.

BRIDGEPORT GOAL: Jesse Joensuu, 1 (Jack Hillen, Ben Walter), 13:18

Sound Tigers clear off the faceoff...and the Pens do the same back.

Tigers back into the Pens zone and Haskins will work it deep. He gets knocked down and Bridgeport will start over. Kohn can't get it through the neutral zone .

Minard to Taffe, who gets picked by Okposo and the Pens will go offsides.

Five minutes left in the second period.

PEns bring it behind the Bridgeport net. but Okposo comes up with it and leads to Kohn who wraps it around the boards. Letestu comes in with a late hit on Joensuu. He'll get called.

Okposo takes exception to it and we'll shove more. One penalty definitely coming on the Pens, don't think any more.

PENGUINS PENALTY: Mark Letestu (Boarding), 15:36

Pens win the faceoff and they'll dump to force Bridgeport to start over.

Tigers can't get set and 30 seconds are off on the penalty. MacDonald dumps in, cut off by Curry and a clearing attempt is good. Delayed penalty on Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Tigers ice the puck, but they'll ha ve a 54 second two man advantage.

PENGUINS PENALTY: Jeff Taffe (Slashing), 16:42

Faceoff just outside the Bridgeport zone because of the icing call. Pens win the faceoff and that cuts 10 seconds off the two man advantage.

Tigers work it on the blue line. Then donw low. Sim in front of Curry. Okposo gets a chance in front but a hand pass is called. 12 seconds left on the 5-on-3.

First man is out of the box. Smith shot blocked, sa me with Lee's. Sim works it in the corner, then sets up in front of Curry. Okposo to Lee who gets a shot on. Pens clear.

30 seconds left in Taffe's penalty. Hennigar over to Joensuu who gets a shot on and that's it for the man advantage. No goals on that attempt.

One minute remaining. Pens get a shot on Lawson after a broken play.

Play goes back into the WBS zone, but a clearing attempt picked off, but Sim goes offside with 35 seconds left.

Tigers with one last rush. Haskins in the corner, to Kohn who throws one to the net. It goes off Curry's pad as time expires.

END OF SECOND PERIOD: SOUND TIGERS LEAD 4-2

Third Period Recap
Hennigar and Jeffrey to start.

Jeffrey wins again, and the Pens will dump and work deep in the Bridgeport zone. Engelland shot blocked and the puck will go out of the zone. Jeffrey gets thwarted and goes offside.

Tigers win the faceoff and dump. Curry swings it around the boards, but Walter cant getit. Okpso does though and a Callahan shot goes wide. Okposo leads back to Hillen but his shot is blocked.

Hillen will lead the charge after a Pens chance and Bridgeport works it deep. Mormina and Sim collide hard. Haskins in the corner. To Wotton, he'll walk in and give it to Haskins whose shot goes wide.

Haskins holds it in though, but Pens come out with it eventually.

Both teams change as the Tigers have the fourth line out. Daoust dumps it in and gives it to Bissonnette. He cant hit his targer and we'll dump and start over again.

Hillen over to Callahan in the Birdgeport zone and Walter brings it in and throws it wide.

Tigers are throwing everything right now and just hitting glass. Pens come the other way, and throw it to Lawson, and he'll hold.

Pens attempt goes by the wayside and they'll work it in the corner. Jeffrey throws it to te center but gets cut off by a Tiger.

They'll dump and the Pens take it back. Back and forth action in the neutral zone.

Kohn dangerous pass to MacDonald and nothing evolves out of it. MacDonald will get it back in the corner. Cut off by Mormina who throws it to the corner. Tigers advance to the Pens zone but go offsiides.

Hillen shot on to Curry from the netrual zone. Curry passes it off and Pens start back.

Walter takes the puck behind the net and clears, but gets called for icing.

Pens work it deep in the Bridgeport zone, pass it out to Wozniewskiand he'll get a shot past Lawson.

Sound Tigers win the ensuing faceoff but go offsides.

Bentivoglio skates it out and throws it in the corner to Sim. He gets worked hard by Letestu. Macdonald throws it on net which Curry blcokers aside. D'Aversa pass gets by an errant receiver and the Pens will ice it.

Pens throw it deep in the Tigers zone and Johnson will take it and pass it off to Caputi.

Lee grabs it to Sim who will miss Morency with a pass. Lovejoy skates it in the zone and throws an innocent shot past Lawson.

PENGUINS GOAL, 4-4: Ben Lovejoy, 1 (Unassisted), 8:13

Tigers will start over. Hillen skates into the Pens zone and gets a shot on Curry, who holds.

Pens win the faceoff and dump. No icing.

Joensuu sends it in to the corner, but play reverses. Pens outto Johnson who'll dump, but the other way we go. Kohn drop pass to Hennigar, and Curry makes a nice glove save.

Bentivoglio now takes the Iggulden spot, who still hasn't reuturned. Shot goes into the crowd, and we'll have some minor shoving after the whistle.

Pens will throw it in, Minard whipes out on top of the puck and Bridgeport goes the other way. Sim tries to wrap around, but an early whistle blows as the puck literally lays on the goal line.

We have some shoving and tussling. We're going to have some penalties. Only on Sim, for what, I'm not sure.

BRIDGEPORT PENALTY: Jon Sim (Slashing), 10:28

Faceoff in the Bridgeport zone as the Pens have a powerplay. Repeated attempts by the Pens are covered by Lawson and we'll have a whistle.

Marcinko leads the puck out of the Bridgeport zone and the Pens will get a penalty.

PENGUINS PENALTY: Jean-Michel Daoust (Hooking), 10:52

Okposo tries to get Hillen with a deflection, but that goes past him. Hillen works it at the blue line to Walter. Walter shot goes over the net. Okposo can't keep it in and the Sound Tigers will start over.

40 seconds left on the Sim penalty. Pens advance broken up by Smith.

Joensuu over the blueline taken out. Dump bt Macdonald and the Pens will hold it as Sim leaves the box. They'll dump and the Tigers have a small powerplay

Okposo centers to no one. Three on two rush led by Okposo gets a shjot on Curry. but nothing comes.

Kohn tries to catch Hennigar breaking. Nothing. Hennigar again while falling goes wide.

Pens will ice it.

Fourth line out and plenty of bodies are flying.

Five minutes left. Tigers dump it deep. Joensuu in the corner and the puck will gio out into neutral territory. Haley a shot on sticked aside.

Haley is back out on the Smith line.

Shot by Taffe gets snagged by the glove hand of Lawson and we'll break.

Callahamn will clear it around and the Pens will start over. They'll work it deep with Minard on the puck.

Callahan takes it away, and Hennigar will advance to get oa shot on Curry with 3:27 left

Pens advance as Lawson blockers aside a shot. Lee takes over behind the net. He'll dump and Okposo will break an icing.

doust over the blue line dumps it and Kohn will take it . Sim to Haskins who gets dumped. No call.

Breakout pass eludes Haley, but he'll get the bounce back off the boards and get a shot on curry who holds with 1:51 left.

Hennigar to Haley who can't hold the puck. Back into the Bridgeport zone, Hillen clears, Smith tries to get to Hennigar but cant. Haley gets a shot on and Curry holds with 1:11 left.

Pens win the faceoff, but an errant pass gets deflected in the bench, eating away only 6 seconds of the clock.

One minute left as Joensuu takes it in, Okposo can't get a hold on it but he gets hooked.

PENGUINS PENALTY: Ben Lovejoy (Hooking), 19:22

TIMEOUT BRIDGEPORT

Pens win and lead the charge, but Bridgepor gathers and advances. Macdonald runs into four defenders. Okposo gets a shot on net. Macdonald shoots wide.

And we're done with regulation.

Overtime
Sound Tigers start off with a 1:22 power play.

Okposo wins the faceoff and here we go. MacDonald leads upwards. first Pens clearing attempt blocked, but the next one goes out. .

Okposo sets up and a shot goes wide. sim behind the net..centering pass goes untouched and cleared. Ten seconds left on the penalty.

That'll do it for the man advantage. Lovejoy comes out. sound tigers break an icing call.

Sim in front to Walter and he gets one on net that Curry holds.

Walter to take the faceoff, but the Pens win int and start up. Taffe shot goes wide and he shows his frustration. Callahan and Thomas tussle in the corner but the puck is cleared.

We'll get a hand pass in neutral zone and play is called.

Pens win the faceoff, but the Tigers dump it in. Pens wrap it around but fail to hold on.

Shot blocked and Okposo will take it and turn it over. He'll give it to Walter on a breakaway who just wshoots it wide.

Pens behind the Tigers net. Jeffrey puts it on the post and the Tigers clear.

Goligoski brings it back in. Lawson gets into some trouble behind the net but the tigers ccome away with it. Back the other way come te Pens.

Shot hits the back boards but the rebound comes back to Minard and he puts it in before Lawson can get back.
